During November 2018, teachers Svetlana Kocovska and Afërdita Amedovska, together with third-grade students, conducted activities from the month’s topic “Autumn in my hometown” within the Eco Section of the Annual Program for Intercultural Extracurricular Activities.
The students conducted activities around daily topics: Who pollutes the rivers and Cereal grains. They worked in groups, created paper boats which they placed in the artwork in the shape of a river to which they added several messages for water protection. Also, the teachers together with the students discussed about the importance of cereal grains in our nutrition and created some creative crafts using grain plants.
These activities aim at supporting a positive socio-emotional climate in the group and constructive cooperation among children while carrying out group tasks, familiarizing students with the process of growing cereal plants, extending and deepening students’ knowledge for cereal plants, wheat, corn, barley, oats etc. and their characteristics, deepening knowledge about potential hazards and pollutants of rivers in the immediate environment and developing a responsible attitude for preserving clean waters.
