Final activity and awarding of diplomas

On May 31, 2019, teachers Zujca Stojanova and Deniz Redzepov, together with their first grade students carried out the final extracurricular activity according to the Nansen model for the school year 2018/2019.

In the school yard, the students played various games of competitive nature whose goals are to encourage students to perform exercises, to develop the sense of aesthetic performance of the movements and to stimulate them to perform the exercises properly. All students were actively involved in the activity and showed great sports spirit. At the end of the activity, in order to mark the successful completion of the school year, the students were awarded certificates for their participation in the activities of the Nansen model for intercultural education.

Final activity and awarding of diplomas

On May 27, 2019, teachers Natasha Zabrcanec and Darko Taleski with the students of the sixth grade carried out the activity “Portrait” as part of the topic “Photography” from the Art section within the Annual program for extracurricular intercultural activities.

The students were divided into pairs, the teachers’ tandem gave each group a drawing with a certain emotion. Each student drew the portrait of their partner with the emotion given on the sheet.

At the end of the activity, in order to mark the successful completion of the school year, the students were awarded certificates for their participation in the activities of the Nansen model for intercultural education. NDC Skopje wishes the students a happy and fun summer!

Vegetable garden

On May 27, 2019, teachers Todorka Nane and Nadica Nane together with fifth grade students carried out the daily activity “Green salad” as part of the topic “Vegetable garden” from the Eco Section of the Annual Program for extracurricular intercultural activities.

During this activity, the students had the opportunity to learn more about the green salad – lettuce, what kind of plant it is, what it contains, how it affects the organism and what its significance for human health is. The students made comparisons with several types of vegetables and made a salad out of them.

The aims of this activity are: to get acquainted with the role and importance of green salad as part of a healthy diet, as a prerequisite for proper growth and development, to encourage curiosity among students for awareness and research, encourage cooperation between students and teachers from both groups, encourage and support a positive socio-emotional climate in the group as well as to enrich the active vocabulary of students with new concepts in both languages.

Cultural stereotypes

During May 2019, the school psychologist Svetlana Asprovska Todorovic, together with the second year students, carried out activities on topic “Cultural stereotypes”.

In order to carry out this activity, the students worked in groups. Each group received a sample of cultural icebergs on which were written characteristics visible at first glance for a culture as well as the subtle characteristics that appear after we get to know more representatives of that culture. The students’ task was to write down characteristics of a representative of a certain culture and at the end of the activity each group presented while other students added or posed questions related to the presentation.

The objectives of the activity are: to overcome stereotypes and prejudices, to support constructive communication and cooperation among students from two different ethnic groups, as well as to support self-organization of students during the implementation of joint activities.

From my grandmother’s table

On May 16, 2019, teachers Zaharica Ilieska and Maja Miteva Petroska together with students of second and third grade, carried out activities from the month’s topic “From my grandmother’s table” within the Section Get to know Macedonia of the Annual Program for Intercultural Extracurricular Activities.

The activity started with introductory games and afterwards the students worked divided into groups. They made imaginary constructions using spaghetti and play dough as well as set up a dinner table with traditional Macedonian and Vlach dishes.

The aims of these activities are: to introduce students with the traditional food, to respect the cultural diversity in the Republic of Macedonia, to encourage collaborative relationships among students from different ethnicities, to encourage and support a positive socio-emotional climate in the group, as well as to foster strong interactions among students.

Olympics

On May 14, 2019, teachers Spasice Nikolovska and Isnisha Salioski from the satellite school “Nikola Karev” v. Borino, with the second grade students carried out the final extracurricular activity according to the Nansen model for the school year 2018/2019.

By the river

On 10th May, 2019, teachers Daniela Stefanovska and Hatixhe Memeti with first grade students carried out the daily activity “By the river” from the monthly topic “Spring in my country” as part of the Eco section of the Annual Program for extracurricular intercultural activities.

In order to warm up, relax and create a pleasant working atmosphere, the activity started with an introductory game. The activity continued with work in groups in which students made elements of an environment by the river. The worksheet, on which a clean and unclean environment by the river was pictured, was exhibited in the hall of the school.

The aims of this activity are: to support children’s curiosity for studying and researching natural phenomena, to encourage students to independently monitor changes in nature, to stimulate positive environment in the group, as well as to sensitize students for more possible ways of utilization of waste materials in the household.

Creating decorative candles

On April 24th, 2019, teachers Deniz Redzepov and Zujca Stojanova, together with their first grade students carried out an extracurricular activity according to the Nansen model.

Through this activity, the students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the process of making candles, necessary ingredients and tools for making candles, as well as to observe and participate in the process, from melting paraffin and wax to shaping the candle. During the activity, students showed interest, curiosity and creativity and were satisfied with the final products that they made independently.

Traffic in the past

On April 23, 2019, teachers Spasice Nikolovska and Isnisha Salioski from the satellite school “Nikola Karev” v. Borino, with students of second grade carried out the activity “Sailboat” from the monthly topic “Traffic in the past” as part of the Traffic section of the Annual Program for extracurricular intercultural activities.

The activity began with an introductory game and afterwards the students divided into pairs had the task of designing and pictorializing how the boats looked in the past and how they moved when the strength of the wind was used. Each pair made a sailboat and at the end of the activity their crafts were exposed in the classroom.

The aims of the activity are: to support children’s interest and curiosity to study the characteristics of traffic in the past, develop the habit of students for using children’s encyclopedias as well as to sensitize children to recognize the causal link between the stages in traffic development.

Day of planet earth

On April 22, 2019, teachers Todorka Nane and Nadica Nane carried out the daily activity “Herbarium” as part of the monthly topic “Collections” from the Eco Section of the Annual Program for extracurricular intercultural activities for the fifth grade.

The activity began with research on the Internet in order to familiarize the students with the solar system, the planets and their position in relation to the Sun, followed by a discussion on Earth Day – April 22 (when and where it began to be marked, why it is marked, what is the meaning of it, etc.). In the main part of the activity, the students worked in two groups in which by coloring they marked the terrestrial and aquatic part of the planet Earth and arranged the planets in the solar system in relation to the Sun.

The aims of this activity are to encourage eco-awareness among students for responsible behavior towards the planet Earth, by marking the Earth Day, encourage cooperation between students and teachers from both groups, encourage and support a positive socio-emotional climate in the group as well as to enrich the active vocabulary of students with new concepts in the field of the Solar System.
