On October 20th, 2011, the project “Nansen Model for integrated education” was formally launched in the MPS “Rajko Zhinzifov”- Municipality of Cair, Skopje. On the event, beside the parents, students and teachers also attended the Deputy Prime Minister- Musa Xhaferi, the Minister for Education and Science- Pance Kralev, Deputy Minister for Education and Science- Safet Neziri, the Mayor of Municipality Cair- Izet Mexhiti, The High Commissioner for National Minorities- Knut Vollebaek, The OSCE Ambassador in Macedonia- Ralph Bret,  The Director of the Nansen Dialogue Network Steinar Bryn, the Executive Director of NDC Skopje- Sasho Stojkovski as well as the school management and the teams of teachers and professors from the integrated schools in the municipalities of Jegunovce, Strumica and Vasilevo. The guests had the chance to hear the speeches of the Director of the school, the Executive Director of NDC Skopje, the Deputy Minister for Education and Science and the Mayor of Municipality of Cair.  During this event, the first grade students that will be enrolled in the project presented a brief musical performance.

The guests welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude for the start-up of this project that has demonstrated excellent results in the municipalities where it is being implemented.

The same day, upon the visit of the High Commissioner for National Minorities, the NDC Skopje office organized a working lunch with part of the teachers, professors and the Directors of the schools where the “Nansen model for integrated education” is currently being implemented. The OSCE Ambassador in Macedonia and part of the NDC Skopje team also attended this meeting. This was an excellent opportunity to share the positive experiences and the challenges related to the implementation of the integrated extracurricular activities.

NDC Skopje also hosted the round-table on the topic “Advantages and challenges during the implementation of the project Nansen model for integrated education” on which attended the High Commissioner on National Minorities- Knut Vollebeak, the Mayor of Municipality of Vasilevo, representative form the BDE- regional unit Tetovo as well as the heads of the education sectors within the municipalities of Strumica and Cair. The attendees shared their best practices, challenges and experiences related to the initial phases and the start-up of the implementation of the project “Nansen model for integrated education”.
