Strategic and significant. In March 2020, Nansen Dialogue Centre – Skopje (NDC) signed two memoranda of cooperation: with the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the Faculty of Pedagogy “St. Kliment Ohridski” – Skopje.

The Memorandum with the Government marked the cooperation with the Coordination Body for Implementation of the National Strategy: One Society and Interculturalism.

The goal of this strategy document is to support and contribute to the strengthening of intercultural initiatives in many vital areas of social life, such as: education, culture, local self-government, media, legal framework and youth.

NDC gives its contribution in the field of education, including activities in its specialty – intercultural education.

This step will have an important and positive impact on the sensitization of the upbringing and educational staff in the country for the many aspects of intercultural education.

NDC offered interactive trainings for 180 teachers in primary and secondary schools that will make a significant contribution to the development of the concept of intercultural education as one of the key priorities for our society to finally become one society for all.

The goal of the cooperation with the Faculty of Pedagogy, on the other hand, is the implementation of intercultural trainings for students in final years of undergraduate studies.

This initiative will prepare future teaching and upbringing staff in building intercultural competencies required for their further professional engagement.

Besides the theoretical part, they will also gain practical knowledge by visiting model schools in which NDC has already implemented the Nansen Model for Intercultural Education.

The trainings will enable knowledge and skills acquisition and sensitize students to the challenges of intercultural education. They will be realized in three languages of instruction, allowing all interested students from the Faculty of Pedagogy to attend.

NDC implements these activities together with the German organization “Forum ZFD”.
